Notes/Dimensions:
June 9, 2025 - Contractor Meeting - Tara, Ana, Ben, Kaija
shower:
shower will have lip, not be flat with the floor
keep drain where it is now
client wants metal drain
tile for wall goes all the way up
increase size of the nook
would like head and handheld with one knob on the temperature
can be two knobs if it’s 2 heads
ideal shower size:
54” x 54” (goes right up to window)
height of pony wall: 24”
tub:
standing tub with chandelier above tub
towel hook next to the tub should be anchored higher for robe to fall nicely
sink/vanity:
hand towel on both sides
vanity: three sets of drawers (three drawers each, so nine drawers total)
one set of outlets in the drawers on each his and hers, outlets should still be outside the sink and one light switch on the right side of the vanity
three sconces between the two mirrors (four sconces is too many)
antique brass (client wants to approve antique bronze if you go with that)
windows:
won’t change the window layout; will likely have new windows installed
remove shutters for different window treatments
don’t want to change the outside bc don’t want to go through HOA
toilet:
keep original
remove the shutter in the toilet room and put matching window treatment with what's in the rest of the bathroom
complete baseboard all the way throughout the bathroom; don’t worry about the closet bc don’t want to ruin carpet
June 25, 2025 - Design Meeting - Tara, Ana, Kaija
Tara likes left-most photo in Round 2 inspo photos above
left-most photo:
likes finishes; they look more high-end
finishes are too bronze
likes the glossy tile
middle photo:
too basic build
finish is too gold; definite no
right-most photo:
finishes are too farm house-like
finishes are muted and cool
finishes:
less champagne bronze, more antique brass
Action: Schedule time for Ana & Tara to go to Ferguson to look at finishes.
shower bench:
Tara approved tiling the bench
shower floor: marble hexagons
client wants hexagons on the floor
good with marble as long as the veins are too harsh or dark
also likes the pebbly look on the floor of the right shower, but seemed more interested in the hexagons
Action: Order different hexagon marble tile samples to compare veins.
grout:
light grout
Action: Order light grout samples.
shower head:
needs to be high enough to comfortably accommodate 6’5” husband
vanity wall:
likes the sconces in the vanity wall rough mock-up #2: Shades of Light Link
Action: Order samples for vanity wall tiles.
likes simple shape of mirror in above vanity wall rough mock-up #2 but not the knobs
likes this mirror bc simple: Crate & Barrel
Action: Double check sizing.
worried that tile on vanity wall and in shower might be too much, could be open to wall paper (maybe navy)
needs to see tiles first
concerned about amount of space between top of mirrors and ceiling; too much space?
open to considering pendant lights
Action: Kaija to create elevations of vanity in Spoak to show dimensions in 2D.
vanity height staying the same (standard)
tub:
Action: Kaija to add windows to mockup to show space between free-standing tub and windows
Action: Pull together tub ideas.
likes sleek, deep tubs
tub faucet should stay on right, where it is now; doesn’t want to move plumbing
Action: Find faucet options.
July 8, 2025 - Email from Tara regarding set of drawers — Approves 2 sets of drawers instead of 3.
I definitely think 2 sets of drawers looks better. I feel like with the space between the mirror and the ceiling it kind of just is what it is. I don't want the lights above it because i like the lights in between and I don't really think there's anything else you can do? It doesn't look that weird to me.
July 22, 2025 - Email from Tara regarding bedroom nook layout — Approves desk and couch with 2 ottomans.
I think practically speaking we are going to have to go with option 1 which I love (desk and couch with 2 ottomans).
July 28, 2025 - On-Site Full Design Presentation - Tara, Ana, Kaija
Tara approved the matte hexagon tile (likes that matte looks more natural)
Likes the more veiny of the two marble options (the
Photo in the floor: AR31 Clay
APP6 beige matte
vanity:
white oak with pulls matching faucet finish
vanity counter:
Options from Roman Marble:
Calacatta Caldia Honed Marble. 134x77”. 2 cm. $62/sf — $4,442/slab (need to buy whole slab)
Calacatta Mystery Honed Marble. 116x68”. 2 cm. $38/sf — $2,081/slab (need to buy whole slab)
does not like finishes that look too pink
desk needs more storage with board or space to hide wires
Action: Find new desk options.
likes marble top or dark base; proposed desk (narrow PB one was too light)
consider one large accent chair in bedroom nook instead of loveseat
Action: Update Spoak with accent chair.
Tara has Pottery Barn accent chairs downstairs in boucle in size medium
go with large size for upstairs; could do fun fabric
likes the chair in the bedroom inspo pics with wide vertical stripes
Action: Find similar striped fabric for PB accent chair to propose.
(Tara’s changing bedding to olive green with cream sheets)
curtains:
likes gray beige or ivory white
bathroom tile:
don’t add tile to the shower step
shower head must fit 6’5” husband
windows will be done at a later date
Approved by Tara:
Shower floor tile:
Strictly Stone — Bianco Oriental 559784
Shower wall tile:
Bedrosian Celine tile in white — OPEN: Tara now considering blue Edward Martin tile
vertical layout — OPEN: considering square tile
grout color: Arctic White
grout sizing: 1/16”
Bathroom pendant light: Shades of Light Kalini Double Drum Convertible Chandelier
Vanity wall tile:
Edward Martin Maisie 2.5x16 Glossy Ceramic Tile in Ocean — OPEN: Do we do square or rectangle?
Action: Share Strictly Stone’s contact with Tara.
Action: Update SketchUp with 11’ x 12’ layout with tub.
Action: Send photo of bathroom with vertical tile in shower & vanity. (Tara’s concerned it’s too much vertical tile, altho they’re in two different areas)
Trip to Kohler - Tara, Ana, Kaija
likes brushed French gold in Script faucet, but out of price range (~$1500 for faucet) and brushed French gold is only available in Kallista lines
next step down is brushed bronze
Signature Hardware makes a color in between but is only available online
Studio McGee offers brushed brass
does not like square fixtures
can mix and match pieces of different lines
super simple faucet; no extra lines
Action: Look for new faucet.
Action: Look for tub.
Tub should be traditional, doesn’t want tub to be too deep; simple shape, not too much pattern.
Consider adding blue tile in square to mediate concern about too much vertical tile (altho not too much because you’re never looking at both areas at once (two different walls)).
Tara is good with centering plumbing in the middle of the side of tub (rather than the end)
Action: Tara mentioned she’ll confirm pricing to move plumbing.
Aug 17, 2025 - Text from Tara — Bathtub Link
Tara likes the 59" Patera Solid Surface Freestanding Tub - Gloss Finish (link)
